River in Prague, Czechia
Prague without the Vltava River would be like an orchestra without its conductor. The surface of the river creates a visual echo of Hradčany and Vyšehrad, her bridges connecting Smíchov with the New Town and Holešovice with Libeň. Steamboats and people on pedal boats glide across the river from spring until autumn, while lonely fishermen can be seen in their boats in the early morning. If you want to see the contemporary atmosphere on the Vltava, just take a stroll along the river between Mánes and Výtoň. In season, you can go to the farmers market or visit local bars. During the winter you can hop on one of the moored boats that offer refreshing saunas.
